Scientists say an entirely separate type of human identified from bones in Siberia co-existed and interbred with our own species.
The ancient humans have been dubbed “Denisovans” after the caves in Siberia where their remains were found.
There is also evidence that this population was widespread in Eurasia.
A study in Nature journal shows that Denisovans co-existed with Neanderthals and interbred with our species – perhaps around 50,000 years ago.
An international group of researchers sequenced a complete genome from one of the ancient hominins (human-like creatures), based on nuclear DNA extracted from a finger bone.

sorry but im still getting over the infamous sheep jaw..so based on the “dna” of one tooth we now have a whole new race they have found..arent these scientists just the modern day priests?..telling us what to believe and showing us how powerful they are..sorry but its a load of wank to me..show me a full skeleton and i will maybe think about giving it some respect..

You are right that archaeologist oftentimes are just guessing and trying to sell us their version of the past as reflecting reality. Having said that, the advances in science are such that dating and extrapolating information is matter of course. The CO14 method was conceived a long time ago, and all these new things they have come up with are just mind-boggling. Science is the current version of magic, just think of the internet, how does it work and who really knows?? And yes, we are all humans today . . . but in the past, while humanoids were still evolving, some species might very well have coexisted at some stage. But ultimately they all go back to Lucy . . . i guess i went a bit over the top in my comments..scientists do wonderful things..but they are not gods..or even the new gods..i often find myself looking at a flat screen tv and going..how the hell did we achieve this?..there must be magic they discovered

I suspect the “Denesovians” were in fact Homo erectus but in the absence of a more complete skeleton it is impossible to know. Until we find more bones or are able to find an erectus with sequencable DNA the word Denosovian will have to do.

pretend that they discover something, it is not visible by anyone. But what is clear and in view of the world, true science, which is willing to help human beings, they’re ignoring. And they want to be called scientific?
