“Up until the 1920s, Bollywood could not find female actors. Acting was not considered worthy of ‘good’ women. So men were shaving off or hiding their moustaches, and wearing saris to play women’s roles. Eventually, the women came. But they were not Hindus or Muslims. They were Jews.”
Bollywood “once” had a Jewish connection

lol.. why am i not surprised?
india has/had a real, indigenous film industry which put out awesome, non-bollywood films, based in Bengal rather than Bombay/Mumbai. The most accessible/famous of these is The Apu Trilogy of films directed by Satrajit Ray.
Looks interesting! I’ll have to see if our library has them.
I have sat through my share of lengthy Bollywood shorts and trailers. I wouldn’t be surprised if they used Bollywood at Guantanamo Bay.
the jewish connection..hmmm
my favorite Ray film isn’t part of the trilogy, it’s called The Adversary. might be hard to find but if you ever get a chance to see it… that’s what filmmaking and storytelling are all about…
thanks xxx..i have never watched any bollywood

It’s amazing how quickly India (Bollywood) has allowed the international cartel of money to enter Bollywood for one and only one purpose alone — how to break down the barriers of old culture, religion, traditions and India’s moral character. First amazing success in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, now China and India! The purpose is to demoralize the youth of these great cultures and make them subservient to the Western ideas of disrespecting the elders, teachers, old values, religion, traditions through Westernized glamor through music first then the films and the rest of the electronic and the print media. Mission would be complete rendering India a cheap copy of the lowest denominator of the Western values! Case in point – Rap music domination in Bollywood’s music, Bollywood’s totally un-Indian use of open sex and changing language lingo being popularized through Bollywood films etc. If the elders of India do not quickly and carefully put checks and balances in this massive media of India, three more years would be too late!
Very well said. Breaking down cultures is their favourite game.
