Data drone lands on Fukushima reactor building
AN 8.2 kilo drone aircraft gathering data from heavily damaged areas of the Fukushima nuclear plant lost control Friday and landed on the roof.
The drone landed on the roof of the No. 2 reactor building, according to the plant’s operator, Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TEPCO).
The vehicle, known as a T-Hawk, is about 7.9 inches (20 centimeters) in diameter and looks like a small jet pack. It is used primarily by the military for reconnaissance work in dangerous areas. It has been used at Fukushima since mid-April to assist in damage assessment.
The company said that there did not appear to be any damage from the impact of the vehicle, with no fire or smoke observed following the accident. It was not known if the vehicle was damaged.
TEPCO spokesman Junichi Matsumoto said that due to its small size and weight, the drone was “unlikely to crash through the rooftop and damage the reactor.”

This is even stranger that the jellyfish that blocked a cooling pipe earlier this week, although that has happened before.

recently i watched a documentary, The Cove, about killing dolphins in japan. It kind of reflects very well japanese attiude. When they feel ashamed or feel like they have not done the proper thing, just cover it up.
and yes, the drone not working tings the alarm bell, too much radioation going out of the wrecked reactor? probably yes.
