The outcome in Libya is not an end in itself, but rather more of a game of power being played with China on The Grand Chessboard. The International banking interests of the Western countries cannot survive if China, Russia, India, Brazil, Iran, or Libya use alternatives to the US dollar like what was taking shape in Africa with the support of Gaddafi. A functional dollar alternative would likely trigger an event in the Western Alliance comparable to the fall of the Berlin wall 1989 and the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Quite simply, Western powers are waging war in Libya to keep some control with China over the world’s reserve currency. Yet, Gaddafi presents a unique challenge for them which is altogether independent of China. The untenable financial position of Western Powers was greatly magnified by the Chinese-Libyian alliance, and that prompted their barbaric actions toward Libya and its leader.

This really brings out the bigger picture. The banks clearly were worried about the fact he had a debt free currency further was planning to export that model to the rest of Africa. My speculation was that Libya had done the deal with them along with the weapons disposal in order to try and appease the West from the sanctions placed on them and Iran in the 80s (which crippled growth).
Not to mention Donald Trumps words!
