Datalogix, Epsilon, Acxiom, and BlueKai obtain information gathered about users through online means (such as through cookies when users surf the web) as well as through offline means (such as through loyalty cards at supermarkets and product warranty cards). Through the new relationship with Facebook, companies will be able to display advertisements to Facebook users based on data that these data brokers have on individuals.

Here’s how to stop them.

  1. whats the alternative?

  2. Fuck Facebook, the alternative is having a real life and not an artificial digital replica that is a virtual reality of a narcissistic dream.

  3. Hey seek you ever seen Idiocracy? That’s what this picture reminds me of with the mass advertising hoards. How Carls Jr was everywhere in that movie, and people are so stupid they thought it was cool.

    • I’ve been told to watch it but I haven’t yet.

      • That movie shows the future of advertisements when someone is watching TV and the TV itself has so many advertisement hoards on the screen.

That’s just what that picture reminded me of but the masses are stupid. Facebook is designed to collect data. Mark Zuckerberg has even said that before “it’s not about privacy, we are about collecting data”. That alone should make all of them wake up and delete their accounts but no they don’t.

  4. face what?

  5. im not on facebook, but i can see howit helps connect family and friends in this computer age. kids havwe grown up with it, E literate oldies use it to keep tabs on grandchildren etc.

can you imagine the carnage if conspiracy theorists ran the asylum??/ lol

    • if you wanted to stay connected before facebook..you used the phone, did a visit or wrote a letter..god forbid you even met up with your mates at the park and got some fresh air and sunshine! :)

when you use and experience facebook you understand whats going on..without using it you cant really judge..before facebook..grandkids would go and visit and talk to their grandparents..now they “like” them

its not all bad and the points you raise do happen..but its far worse than good..and look at the information that is offered up daily to the data machine who keeps it on record for life..nearly 1/6th of the world use facebook..

some kids are 100% addicted to it..will not come off of it in case they miss something..that is not healthy..

    • There is some positives of Facebook like that, yeah it is cool to see old friends and share pictures. I will admit that.

  6. ok seek. the time has come. the moment you feared is here. its 2013 and the question is; who plays in the GF this year and who wins?

    lol

    • That’s a harder question than who will be the pope!

I like Geelong again and Carlton will improve. Swans still around the mark.
