A seat for the Pope at King David’s tomb

An historic agreement has been drafted between Israel and the Vatican. The Israeli authorities have granted the Pope an official seat in the room where the Last Supper is believed to have taken place, on Mount Zion in Jerusalem, and where David and Solomon, Jewish kings of Judea, are considered by some researchers, to also be buried.

It is the culmination of a long campaign by the Catholic Church to regain religious stewardship over the place where Jesus is supposed to have broken bread and drunk wine with his disciples on the eve of his crucifixion.

This is an enormous issue pushed through without any public debate.

According to our sources, the agreement, which is expected to be ratified next June, gives the Pope a “special authority” over the second floor of the building, so that Christian pilgrims will be able to celebrate religious functions like Pope John Paul did in 2000.

The agreement constitutes Israel’s capitulation to the Vatican’s efforts to “Christianize” the holy site, like when a Catholic convent was built in Auschwitz.

The Catholic Church has long wanted control over part of the area on Mt. Zion so as to turn it into an international religious center for Catholics. The blueprint of the agreement reads as follows: “The Vatican hands over this use of the Cenacle to the Custody of the Holy Land which will keep the Cenacle open from 6 AM to 8 AM for the celebration of the Holy Mass”.

In the long term, the gesture will increase tensions between Jews and the large assets of the Vatican. The Church has long been working to reduce Jewish rights in Jerusalem and in the Old City. Now, after the Muslim Waqf authority expelled the Christians from the Temple Mount and turned it into a mosque, it’s the turn of the Vatican to lay its hands on the Jewish Jerusalem.

The Custody of the Holy Land, the Franciscan order who, with Vatican approval, is in charge of the holy sites, campaigns with the Arabs against Israel.

As far back as May 2000, Yasser Arafat met Islamic and Christian clergymen at the presidential offices in Ramallah to back Palestinian Arab sovereignty over Jerusalem. Among the clergymen who attended the meeting, Diodoros I, patriarch of the Greek Orthodox Church, Torkom II, patriarch of the Armenian Orthodox Church, Catholic Patriarch Michel Sabbah and officials from the Custody of the Holy Land.

“An official meeting took place in Ramallah, Palestine, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairsof the State of Palestine”. This is the official note of the Vatican press office about the meeting between the Catholic officials and the PLO representatives which took place this week.

The Vatican is also asking that Israel hand over to the Vatican’s control dozens of sites, 19 in Judea and Samaria and 28 in Jerusalem. The Catholic Church want to discuss some properties on Mount of Olives, Har Hazeitim, which is the very history of the Jewish people. If you want to keep Jerusalem united, you have to keep Har Hazeitim. The Vatican knows that.

In 1989 charges were made by the Catholic authorities that Israel desecrated the Cenacle on Mount Zion. The charges, which appeared in the Italian bishops’ newspaper Avvenire, said that the Israelis put a memorial plaque on the roof of the Cenacle. The plaque was put in place after the 1948 War of Independence in memory of soldiers who fell in the Old City and whose burial place was unknown. Every year, the bereaved families cleaned the plaque.

Why did the Catholic authorities complain? Last year a similar charge was made from the Catholic authorities that Israel wants to “Judaize” Mount Zion.

Should the Vatican gain sovereignty over Mount of Zion, millions of Christian pilgrims will flock to the site, and this will threaten the Israeli presence in the Old City’s Jewish Quarter and Jewish access to the Western Wall.

The Vatican wants the Jews out of the Old City and apparently Israel’s government is agreeing with them. Turning the Cenacle into an active church is also a way of desecrating the holiness of the site known as the Tomb of David.

ok..calling the 3rd temple of solomon and biblical prophesy buffs..please explain whats going on here..it seems the pope and vatican now have rule or some sort of seat at a place that they needed to be at to fulfill long held views on bibilical end times? or am i interpreting this incorrectly?

  1. Wonder if they gave the pope Judas’ seat?

There is a Roman / Syrian / Palestinian connection here I believe which is probably relevant to the things happening in Syria today, maybe?

    • The Roman rulers are not the first to link Syria administratively with Palestine. In the late 6th century Darius makes Syria and Palestine, together with Cyprus, the fifth satrapy of his empire. During the Seleucid dynasty Syria and Palestine are under joint control in the 2nd century. Then, for some 700 years from the 1st century BC, the Roman and Byzantine empires unite the region.

The three main cities are the very ancient Damascus and the more recent Antioch in Syria, and Jerusalem in Palestine. Of these it is Jerusalem which has a turbulent history in Roman times. The Jews of Palestine prove exceptionally hard to govern.

  3. I was re-reading Holy Blood Holy Grail recently, they mention this mountain as very important for two reasons. a) there was a basilica there in the 4th century that had the nickname “the mother of all churches” b) apparently godfroi de bouillon ereceted an abbey on the mount called notre dame du mont de sion” wihch apparently had the right to confer the crown to godroi’s successor. I cant help but wonder if the reported illuminist and Freemasonic factions that are said to have infiltrated the church especially since Vatican II are making a play to regain part of what they consider their bloodlines heritage? Wild speculation I know (like alot of Holy Blood!) but that could be one of the undercurrents here.

Also been reading alot about Petrus Romanus of late and I’m not so interested in the mystical side of the argument, I see it as a case of prophecy fulfilled (mystically?) or prophecy enacted, by an elite class who would seek to enact prophecy as a way to keep people feel helpless and in awe of those who enact said prophecy. This appears to be another act in the “anti-christ game” and if Ratzinger makes a trip to israel anytime soon (especially given his Nazi backround) i’d be worried for his health but he might drop dead anytime now so who knows. Again, wild speculation and sorry about the rant!

Thanks to FOTM for bringing this story to my attention. 🙂

  4. -show regional rule, global destruction with heavenly help
-rule out anywhere outside of Assyria AND then within…
-eliminate Lebanon, Turkey, Jordan & Iraq as his origin
-show stages of increasing (limited) support for Antichrist
i.e. 1 nation + 3 nations, 7 more nations + fallen angels by beginning of Great Tribulation
-show sequence of events after Damascus is destroyed
-show where destruction occurs prior to Israel being attacked
-a global (military) threat ONLY after help from above
-show the world wants to oppose him but can’t
    -“a mediator\peacemaker”, instead…capitulation to him

  5. Hmmm, and today the pope announces he is resigning, too weary, and will be replaced in March, very interesting times we are living.

  6. just wow!!!

“Archaeologist Israel Finkelstein and his colleagues are stirring controversy with contentions that many biblical stories never happened, but were written by what he calls `a creative copywriter’ to advance an ideological agenda.”

    check the arguments:

“David and his son Solomon are famous in the Bible for their warrior prowess, legendary loves, wisdom, poetry, conquests, and ambitious building programmes. Yet thanks to archaeology’s astonishing finds, we now know that most of these stories are myths. Finkelstein and Silberman show us that the historical David was a bandit leader in a tiny back-water called Jerusalem, and how — through wars, conquests and epic tragedies like the exile of the Jews in the centuries before Christ and the later Roman conquest — David and his successor were reshaped into mighty kings and even messiahs”

“research and theoretical interpretations cannot be separated from identities and socio-political biases. Generally, Zionist archaeologists are much less skeptical towards the Bible than Palestinian archaeologists, pro-Palestinian minimalists or Israeli post-Zionists. Since the 1990s, a new school from Tel Aviv University has been developing and promoting a new paradigm of Low Chronology, which denies the existence of a United Monarchy in the days of the Judahite Kings David and Solomon. Despite the success of the new paradigm”

      hes jewish nobility of sorts..

His great grandfather on his mother’s side, Shlomo Ellenhorn, came to Palestine from Grodno (today in Belarus) in the 1850s and settled in Hebron. He was one of the first physicians in the Bikur Cholim Hospital in Jerusalem, and is listed among the group of people who purchased the land in 1878 in order to establish Petah Tikva – the first Jewish settlement in Palestine outside the four holy cities. Finkelstein’s grandfather, Israel Jacob Ellenhorn, was the first pharmacist in Petah Tikva.

Finkelstein is married to Joelle (maiden name Cohen). They are the parents of two daughters – Adar (born 1992) and Sarai (born 1996).

      • “hes jewish nobility of sorts..”
I see more autochthonous inteligentia than nobility-by-sword-or-money

I just read he said (couldn’t find the link again) something like that: I’m not anti-jewish…where I shall return to?

Finkelstein believes his carbon-14 dating, according to which in 10 century b.c. Jerusalem (pottery & other archeological objects) was not the important capital of David the Bible text speaks about.
Finkelstein’s thesis is that the Bible is not the historically true testimony of the centuries 12 to 8th b.c. it claims to be, but the view, the theological view!, of those who wrote it (the priests’ cast) in the 7th century. b.c. about what they thought/wished had occurred in the past of Israel. (reflecting the ideology of a group of about 10%-15% of all population of Israel&Judea):

Finkelstein doesn’t believe in the theological Bible statements about:
        a. a great exodus form Egypt, but instead asserts the israeli people consolidated during centuries in the land of Israel&Judea;
        b. a great unified kingdom of Israel&Judea at the times David&Salomon is believed to had ruled, there are no archeological evidence about that, but “were close separate parallel entities from the beginning”…”being the Israel the dominant one…of course the Biblical texts were written in Judea reflecting the local ideology.”…”at a time when Israel no longer existed, but was only a memory”…”but the archeological reality is that Israel was the most flourishing one and that ruled and dominated over Judea for more of its existence”:

        min. 5!!!

        • carbon dating imo is not as accurate as they say..

anyone who is a cohen is jewish nobility..anyone who was involved in the first settlements in Palestine is nobility to me like a founding father..not as in the nobility of royals though..
