Billionaire Mikhail Fridman, whose net worth is $13.3 billion according to Forbes, is to leave his children out of his will. The businessman said he wants his children to create something on their own.

“I’m not a big fan of such public statements, but I can say that I am going to transfer all my money to charity. I don’t plan to transfer any money to my children,” Fridman said, responding to a question from the audience at the Forbes club.

He says giving a young person large amounts of money risks ruining his life. He also doesn’t want his children to participate in his Alfa Group business.

Fridman said he wants his children to follow his footsteps and create something of their own. Another reason for that is that he doesn’t want his elder daughter Laura, who is now 22, to become a focus of people with bad intentions.

The tycoon added that the same decision was made by his business partners. Fridman has four children. The youngest is 10 years old, the eldest is 22.

In 2016, Forbes Russia estimated Fridman’s wealth at $13.3 billion; he is ranked second among the richest Russians. He is the principal owner of Alfa Group, which includes Russia’s largest private commercial bank Alfa Bank, X5 Retail Group that has a chain of supermarkets in Russia, A1 TV Channel and the LetterOne investment holding.

  1. Our question is: if he is operating under revolving foreclosure bankruptcy; and, money is a debt; does that not make him the second biggest debtor? AND liable for his portion of the national debt?
If we take all the wealth in the world to pay all the debt in the world, we would probably have a zero jubilee; and, did the OPPT filings of 2012 foreclose the system? soon, we will know; so, let’s cash in the chips, re-shuffle the cards and change the rules; what say you?

    just asking; in peace

    This is undeniably true.
And like everyone else here, I’m skeptically looking at this and trying to find the angle.
But maybe he’s on the up-&-up. Warren Buffet is doing the same thing, after giving his children a head start in business.
True, what the children get for free is, one, a better start than anyone else, and, two, the contacts that make companies and CEO’s rich…but at least they have to do SOMETHING to insure their continued prosperity, which would not be true if they simply inherited a vast, self-perpetuating fortune.
And I can’t think of a better way to destroy a human being and make him worthless to himself & others than to just give him that inheritance.

    • his money will be used to promote globalist ideals..

Since 2005, Fridman has been a Russian representative on the International Advisory Board of the Council of Foreign Relations.[15]

Since 2005 he has been a member of the Public Chamber of Russia.

He has been an active supporter of Jewish initiatives in Russia and elsewhere in Europe.[16] In 1996 Fridman was one of the founders of the Russian Jewish Congress, now sitting on the RJC Presidium. He makes large contribution to the work of the European Jewish Fund, a non-profit organization aimed at developing European Jewry and promoting tolerance and reconciliation on the continent.[17] Fridman along with Stan Polovets and three fellow Russian Jewish billionaires, Alexander Knaster, Pyotr Aven, and German Khan, founded the Genesis Philanthropy Group whose purpose is to develop and enhance Jewish identity among Jews worldwide.[18][19] Every year the Genesis Prize recognises a Laureate who has attained excellence and international renown in his or her field, and whose actions and achievements embody the character of the Jewish people through commitment to Jewish values, the Jewish community.[20]

At the first annual genesis prize giving in Jerusalem in 2014 Fridman, co-founder of the Genesis Philanthropy Group, told the audience that the Genesis Prize is intended to inspire the next generation of Jews with the example of the Laureate’s outstanding professional achievement, contributions to humanity and commitment to Jewish values.[21]

  3. ah, ok, Russian wealth finishing in the hands of the jewish cause; it makes sense.
as for leaving or not wealth to one’s children, quite different family policy if compared to Baron Benjamin de Rothschild:

“we also have a responsibility to pass on to our children * more wealth than we received.”*
