US President Donald Trump moved to reset US relations with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on Monday after the prior Obama administration’s strained ties, giving him firm backing and vowing to work together to fight Islamic militants.

“I just want to let everybody know in case there was any doubt that we are very much behind President Sisi. He’s done a fantastic job in a very difficult situation. We are very much behind Egypt and the people of Egypt,” Trump said in an Oval Office meeting with the Egyptian leader.

The trip was Sisi’s first official US visit since being elected president in 2014. Trump’s predecessor, Barack Obama, never extended an invitation.

Obama froze aid to Egypt for two years after Sisi, then a general, overthrew President Mohamed Mursi in mid-2013 after mass protests against Mursi’s rule. Mursi, a Muslim Brotherhood member, had been elected the previous year.

The one-on-one meeting between Trump and Sisi, followed by a separate gathering with top aides, showed how intent the new US president is on rebooting the bilateral relationship and building on the strong connection the two presidents established when they first met in New York last September.

“I just want to say to you, Mr President, that you have a great friend and ally in the United States, and in me,” Trump said.

Sisi said he appreciated that Trump has been “standing very strong … to counter this evil ideology.”

While Trump noted the United States and Egypt “have a few things” they do not agree on, he made no public airing of US concerns about human rights in Egypt.

“Islamic State said on Tuesday the United States was drowning and “being run by an idiot”.
In the first official remarks by the group referring to President Donald Trump since he took office,”

So called terrorists are given a platform (we know the U.S. backs them). Might as well have them on CNN for cheese and crackers, while they shoot the breeze and get excited about who had the best zinger against Trump. It is comical at times. On the other side of the aisle, I guess it is something else for Alex J. to stomp and scream his head off with his propaganda. This stupid statement does give the left and right something else to keep their columns in check.

  2. China will invest $15Billion for over 15 infrastructure projects in Egypt following a recent visit by president Xi Jinping to the North African country.

According to official reports presidents Jinping and Sisi signed a number of joint projects aimed at boosting infrastructure in the country. More investment will be channeled towards electricity, transport and infrastructure sectors.

According to Sisi the projects that will be carried will be beneficial to all the Egyptians for they have been looking ways that will ensure their partnership help the country.

Several projects had already started, said Xi, adding that China wants to participate in the construction of Egypt’s new administrative capital.

Sisi added that the two countries had signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation on the Silk Road and the Maritime Silk Road economic projects.

They also agreed to develop the China-Egypt Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone which could bring over 100 companies to work in Egypt and create more than 10,000 jobs. Chinese entrepreneurs have already invested about $500 million in the project and are expected to invest another $2.5 billion.

Other China-Egypt agreements cover such areas as electricity, space development, infrastructure, trade, energy, finance, culture, media, technology and climate change.

Looks like troops or private contractors from the U.S. may be needed to assure China gets the infrastructure they will need for their Silk/Maritime Road!
