World Bank to cease financing upstream oil and gas after 2019

The announcement came as French President Emmanuel Macron told dozens of world leaders and company executives at a climate summit that they were losing the battle against climate change and needed to react.

Greenpeace welcomed the move.

“The World Bank … has sent a damning vote of no confidence to the future of the fossil fuel industry,” Greenpeace International climate campaigner Gyorgy Dallos said, challenging banks to follow suite.

Stephen Kretzmann, of the Oil Change International advocacy group, said it was time for all of the institutions, countries, investors and individuals who are still in the Paris Agreement to stop funding fossil fuels.

not required anyway..enough known deposits exist..other companies, not the world bank, will invest if needed..this is just virtue signalling..

  1. ” at a climate summit that they were losing the battle against climate change and needed to react.”

I thought the deadline to climate change, or else, was years ago. Yet we are still alive, but they still “needed to react”. They are stuck with the meme; I wonder if it bores them at times when they see their own predications come and go without a blimp.

  2. Seems to me the Rothschild clan and their cohorts had set up their scheme, which was to be carbon credits, and when the people of the world said no to the climate change garbage, they’ve had to switch over to crypto-currencies. One way or another, they are determined to have their ‘bubbles’.
