Iran’s anti-regime protests enter third day as thousands rally in support of Government

A wave of spontaneous protests over Iran’s weak economy has swept into Tehran, with college students and others chanting against the Government just hours after hard-liners held their own rally in support of the Islamic republic’s clerical establishment.

The anti-government demonstrations appear to be the largest to strike the Islamic republic since its 2009 Green Movement arose after President Ahmadinejad’s re-election, which saw eight months of street protests.

The pro-establishment demonstrations, commemorating a mass 2009 pro-government rally challenging those who rejected the re-election of hard-line Mr Ahmadinejad amid fraud allegations, had been scheduled weeks earlier to be held in 1,200 locations around Iran.

State television showed a rally in the capital Tehran and marchers carrying banners in support of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Iran’s second-largest city of Mashhad.

The student protests started on Thursday (local time), when people in Mashhad took to the streets to protest against high prices and shouted anti-establishment slogans.

On Friday, police dispersed anti-government demonstrators in the western city of Kermanshah as protests spread to Tehran and several other cities.

Police arrested 52 people in Thursday’s protests, according to a judicial official in Mashhad, one of the holiest places in Shiite Islam.

Information about the demonstrations remains scarce as both state-run and semi-official media in Iran have not widely reported on the protests.

Social media videos showed clashes between police and demonstrators.

Crowds reportedly called for the death of the Supreme Leader.

All Signs Point to Trump’s Coming War With Iran
    Regime Change?

Last week, Rex Tillerson was testifying in front of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. In response to a query from Ted Poe (R-TX), a big fan of the Iranian radical group Mojahedin-e Khalq (MEK) and its efforts to destabilize Iran, Tillerson said,

Our policy towards Iran is to push back on this hegemony, contain their ability to develop obviously nuclear weapons, and to work toward support of those elements inside of Iran that would lead to a peaceful transition of that government.

It was the first public indication of regime-change sentiment from the administration.

But it’s not the only sign. Cohen-Watnick, the liaison on the NSC to the intelligence community, has reportedly confessed to other administration officials of his desire to oust the Iranian regime through espionage. And the fellow that’s now leading the Iran operation at CIA is Michael D’Andrea, otherwise known as the “dark prince,” a long-time operative who is fully capable of pursuing the harder line that Cohen-Watnick wants to see.

But wait, didn’t Iranians just overwhelmingly back the reformist Hassan Rouhani in elections last month? This popular government has engaged in domestic reforms and external engagement of the “Great Satan.” In other words, Iranians have changed their own regime — peacefully — since the days of the more confrontational Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Of course, Washington has overturned the wishes of Iranian voters in the past, helping to overthrow Mohammed Mossadegh in 1953.

  3. That is one reason “they” push for more social media. Social media can be used, like anything else, as a tool of corruption and subversion:

“Information about the demonstrations remains scarce as both state-run and semi-official media in Iran have not widely reported on the protests.
Social media videos showed clashes between police and demonstrators.”

    • The msm also showed Bahrain footage from 2011 and said it was Iran!

      • wow. The msm is corrupt, too, no doubt. The social media push comes with regulation controls, too. If people do not march according to the regulations in social media, then they may be censored. Also, a bunch of people taking social media footage of themselves, or friends, protesting while being paid by some “outsider”, or when people are propagandized to believe it is cool, or the right thing to do (protest), does not make it right either, as you well know. When a voice is cut out of the social interpretation, in this case Iran, then the only voice allowed is the msm voice about some social media they just happened to find. It is not the media per se, but the corruption in the world.

As xxx said below, if it is because of a headcovering, then Christians also should be targeted according to their logic. Headcovering is not just a Muslim thing.

Good coverage here seek, on many fronts. Keep up the good work!

        LORD bless

        • If it’s globally “reported” via saturation then it’s most likely a globalist play.
          Cheers mate.

          • agreed. the saturation is key. A hyped up video, may not even be recorded by a globalist, but if it is worth their effort, then they will use it for their advantage. Which is why I think social media makes their reporting easier. Not that social media is bad in and of itself, but if a video can be interpreted into their global scheme it works for them. Bring in some social media to saturate the airwaves, and tune out Iran’s media coverage and where is everybody gravitated toward for their news – what the globalists interpret via the social media. If an msm camera man records something, then they will play that video all day long on 50 channels, too.

      • thx Seek ! nice catch!

        • seeker is on top of things. Good blog. Good comment he gave about “saturation” too.

          LORD bless isabel.

          • that catch & the one about-Iranian-film-movie & just couple more make it a big change & now is back to-Bannon thx God !
God bless ya too & everybody on blog 🙂

  4. “A wave of spontaneous …”

newsflash: iranians are not oppressed. yes, the women have to wear head thingies when they go outside. the west’s solution to this horrible, horrible oppression is to drop bombs on their head – hey you dont need a hijab if you’re dead!

also, hijabs are cool!!!! (said the america liberal feminist idiot)

    • Hijabs show empowerment of women and are clearly pro feminism! 🙂

    • boy stupidity reigns high !
